Dubai Tram Map

With Dubai Tram opening in November 2014, the first phase of the project covered 11 stations. The detailed RTA route map is shown further down below but here is a simplified version of the Dubai Tram map so that you can easily see the Dubai Tram stations that are operational and the directions that the trams will travel around the system.

Dubai Tram Route and Station Map

As of now there is just one route as shown below with 11 stations. There is one circular route that runs from Al Sufouh, round to JBR after passing through Dubai Marina and then back around past JLT and the Marina to end up back at Al Sufouh. There have been plans for a number of years to extend the tram but this has still not happened. It only takes a few minutes to get to each station.

Dubai Tram Map 2023

The tram goes in one direction around the JBR area, as the small loop route was discontinued due to under use a while ago.

So, for example, if you want to get from Dubai Marina Mall to JBR then you need to change at Dubai Marina.

When you catch the tram from the Al Sufouh end the signs may say that the tram goes to Jumeirah Lakes Towers, but it does not just stop there, it keeps going on around the whole route and returns to Al Sufouh.

The Dubai Tram route means that the trams themselves can travel in a complete loop from the Al Sufouh depot and back again so if you stay on them that is where you will end up!

As you can see from the Dubai Tram map, you can interchange with the Dubai Metro at Dubai Marina (for Sobha Realty station) and Jumeirah Lakes Towers (for DMCC station) and also with the Palm Monorail at Palm Jumeirah station. There is a short walk that also involves a lift to get from the tram to the metro/monorail.

Al Sufouh Tram Route Map

Above is the RTA route map for the Dubai Tram project. As you can see the tramway runs through Jumeirah Beach Residence for about one kilometre and has two stations in that area.

Location of the Route

The route goes from Al Sufouh and heads up to the elevated section that runs along the Sheikh Zayed Road side of the Dubai Marina section. The tram route here is an add on to the road that runs along the back of the marina and there are 3 stations along this part of the route. Two of those stations link up with the Dubai Metro at the Dubai Marina station and the Jumeirah Lake Towers station.

There are 6 further stations that run from the marina along Al Sufouh Road just past Knowledge Village and this is where the first phase of the Al Sufouh Tram route stops. There is then a depot in Al Sufouh. Station 9 links up with the Palm Monorail at the foot of the Palm Jumeirah. This is  good news for the Palm Monorail particularly as it may mean that more people are able to commute using public transport from the Palm (although the price of Palm Monorail tickets will likely have to come down at this point to make it feasible as a commuting option and this doesn’t seem likely to happen at any time in the near future).

Phase two of the Dubai Tram will also link up with the Dubai Metro station at Mall of the Emirates but there is no information currently as to when this will happen.

Daily ticket can be unlimited by subway, bus, tram, right? Do I need scan ticket when I get off and on the bus and tram or just show my tickets?

    Hi

I live in JBR Sadaf, and I have a tram station in front of me: JBR1. Does this tram take me to Al Sufouh, the station after Knowledge Village? Sometimes I see the Al Sufouh station closed, so do the trams still go that way or is there construction going on?

    Thanks

Al Sufouh tram station is open as far as we are aware. It may well be that the construction work is to do with the next phase of the tram.

Hi, I’m gonna move to Shams 2 building in JBR and I’m a bit concern on the route. What’s the closest metro for me? Dubai Marina or JLT? Then I guess I have to take the tram which will take me to JLT first?

    Thank you

Hello, can you explain me this? I drive yesterday with the Metro from Ghudeiba Station to Damac Station. I pay 7.50 Dirham. This is correct. Than I changed to the Tram and Drive from Damac to Jumeirah lake Tower 2. I pay 7.50 Dirham too. I think this is not correct.

The day before I drive from Damac to Jumeirah lake towers too and I pay 3 dirhams. I think this is correct. I have the silver nol card. Can you explain me wy I have pay esterday more for the same way for using the Tram after using the metro. Hope you understand the problem

The likely explanation is that you did not tap in or out correctly at one end of your jouney. If there is only a tap in or tap out you will be charged the maximum fare for a single trip on your card which would be 7.50 dirhams.

But we all checked out correctly at the metro station. We was 3 Person. And checked in and checked out correct at the Tram. AT the other day we take the Tram First and pay 3 Dirham and than changed to metro at Damac and we pay from Damac to emirates mall 3 Dirham too. That cost normal 5 Dirham, or? I think when you changed between metro and Tram it take over the price from the first you take. Can you try the same and check?

        • Susanne

Sorry we drive to Dubai mall. That cost 5 Dirham. And we pay only 3 Dirham from Jumeirah lake towers after using Tram before.

It sounds like you have been wrongly charged so you will need to check this and see if you can get a refund from the RTA. You can call them on 800 9090.

Thanks for helping, but I think that is not only our problem. It’s a generally problem when you changed from metro to Tram.

    Hello ‘admin’ !

I had an amázing 4-week holiday in Dubai, the whole month of April.
It was my second vacation there, whát a city !!

    ok
I came back from the Palm Island in the early evening and took the tram to Marina Mall.
So I was sitting in the tram, looking for the ‘Marina Mall’ station.
I waited and waited and waited, and then realized that I had missed it …
Why ? Because that tram station is nót called ‘Marina Mall’ …
The métro station is called Marina Mall, but the tram station is not 😉

So I took the whole loop … to Al Sufouh, and back 😉
It took me one and a half hour, there was no one else in the tram 😉

Oh it was not that bad, the city is beautiful in the evening, I had plenty of time,
but why isn’t that tram station called ‘Marina Mall?’
    People get confused !

    Greetings from Holland !
    Remi

It is a bit confusing as some of the Metro stations have been named after local businesses who have paid for the rights to name them. In fact the Metro station at the Marina is called ‘Damac’. However, the Metro station is not at the Mall, the tram station is and that one is called Marina Mall.
