Tickets

The Dubai Tram tickets are the same that are available for the Dubai Metro. The price that you pay depends on how many zones you travel through. However, all of the tram stations in phase one are in the same zone (zone 2) so if you just make one journey on the tram, however far, you will only be charged 3 dirhams (if you are using a silver Nol card).

You can use your Nol card to pay for Dubai Tram tickets and other methods of public transport in Dubai like the bus and the Metro.

Children under 5 travel for free, otherwise they need to buy a Nol card and pay the fares below.

If you don’t have a Nol card you can get hold of one at any of the tram or Metro stations, bus stations or RTA offices and also at many other locations including supermarkets. Nol card is the only way to pay for travel.

There aren’t ticket offices at the tram stations, just ticket machines which tend to require the correct change if you are using cash. There are people to help at the tram stations though.

There are ticket machines at each of the stations and someone to help with purchases.

The price that you pay covers travel on the tram, metro and bus so you can travel on all of these and it just depends on how many zones you travel through.

Dubai Tram TicketsValidate Your Nol Card

You must remember to validate your Nol card by tapping it on one of the ticket readers. You need to tap in both on the way in and the way out – otherwise you will be charged the maximum price for a trip or you could be fined if you do not tap it at all. The Nol readers are in all of the stations and there are plenty of them so don’t forget!

The Nol card reader will automatically deduct the correct amount for the fare from your Nol card.

Hi. Thank you for the informative page.

    New to Dubai.
    1. How much is the regular Nol card? Is it 70 AED? (And would the fares be 3AED through it?)
    2. If I want to take The Gardens Metro Station to Sobha Realty Station then switch to Tram in the Dubai Marina Tram Station, will the overall trip be 6AED (3AED for metro, 3AED for tram)?
    3. Is the Gardens Metro Station in the same zone as the tram (meaning the fare will be 3AED not 7.5AED)?
    4. Is the Discovery Gardens Metro Station in the same zone as the tram?

    Thank you in advance.

      Hi answers as follows:
      1) Take a look at this page for more information on Nol cards.
      2) As long as you transfer from metro to tram within 30 minutes then it should be one fare, all within zone 2.
      3) Yes
      4) No, it is in zone 1, not 2.

I wish to leave long term in Marina area. I will use Gold card for Metro travel. 3-4 times a week to go to City area. I intend to use Tram in Marina for last mile 1 or 2 station from Metro. My question is

    1. As I used a Gold Card in Metro and immedieatly taking Tram. And I validate (tram) with the same Gold card. Will my Tram journey will be charged.

    2. Similary, I used Tram to Metro and take immediate Metro by using the same Gold card, will my Tram journedy be charged.

    3. If ans. to above question is yes, should I take another silver NOL card for Tram as for a short distance I am ok to travel in Silver class also.

    Thanks.

BUt now I find that the bank has debited my account and says that this amount has been claimed by Dubai Tram. Whom do i talk to and in which number should I call to sort out this stange issue.

Currently you can top up at Metro and bus station vending machines but as we understand it, it is not possible to top up at tram stations.

    Hello there,

I’d like to know what ticket options will I have as a tourist, staying in dubai for 5 days. I read somewhere that I can have 5 daily passes that work for both tram and metro. I’d really appreciate if you advise on the followings:
    a) Whether tourist daily pass is standard or gold?
    b) If both options are available to tourists, how much is each?
Any other advice/suggestions would be greatly appreicated. Thanks

Hi I just wanted to know if I get the metro at 10AM and then the tram at 10:20 will I be charged for two trips or only one if I stay in the same zone (meaning is commutation free during a certain time in the same zone? ). Thank you.

    Dear Sir / Madam

May I know in case I totally stay for 4 days, is the silver one already enough?
Furthermore, the Nol card required to pay deposit? (and the above table only showing the fee for each journey), am I correct?
If deposit required, how would be the difference between those cards?

Many thanks in advance for your kind help & attention and looking forward to hearing from you soon.

    BR, SiCi

Hello, I would like to know if there is a connection between the tram and the palm monorail in the palm jumeirah station, the punctual question is, if I pay the monthly silver card this will cover also monorail? Or that’s a different price I have to pay.
You can reply to my email,
    Thank you

    • admin

Sorry, all replies are posted publicly to help anyone else who has the same question. Yes the tram links with the monorail at Palm Jumeirah station (although it is a 10 minute walk across the footbridge and through the car park). You need to buy a separate ticket for the monorail.

For buses, if you ride a bus within 30 mins after riding the metro, it is free/ our NOL cards doesn’t get deducted. Is it same for tram?

  • Yogesh Jalan

If I buy a red ticket and upload it with a daily pass and do a journey from Adcb2 to Marina…will this daily pass allow me to enter tram as well or i have to pay extra for using tram?

Staying at sofitel Jumeirah. Wish to visit hard rock cafe and downtown dubai. Which ticket and station best to do this ???

    • admin

For Downtown Dubai you will need to link to the Metro and go to Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa station. To get to Festival City where the Hard Rock Cafe is you can get the metro to Al Jaddaf and get an abra trip across the creek. More info about the Metro go here.

Pls advice on which travel card will be helpful to me..we are a family of 4 people arriving at jbr via taxi from abu dhabi…day 1 late afternoon go to dubai mall and back to jbr..day 2 visit img park and back to jbr..day 3 go to dubai airport.

  • Pier

Im a bit confused with tickets.
We arrive to airport at midnight so we cannot use metro first day. next day we are in marina. And I am not sure If I can buy tickets there?!(Silver)
We will stay 3-4 days and will use metro to visit Burj Khalifa, “old” town few tram fares and last day to Airport.
I believe for this few times we do not have to buy 3 or 4 daily passes.
Red Card should be tourist friendly but it says I have to fill with max 10 single trips.
How Do I fill it with trips when my trips will be 2x 1 zone, 1×2 zone and 1×3 zone trips?
Buy a red card and fill with 20 AED – is that possible?

I believe Silver card is much better it is prefilled with 19 AED (which is almost enough for us) BUT,
It can be bought only on 4 metro stations as I read online.
Is silver card ok for a tourist and where to get it?

    Thank you

    • admin

Yes you can buy a silver ticket at any metro station. The fares on the red ticket are one dirham a trip more expensive than the silver card so once you have made 4 trips you have made up the extra cost of the silver ticket. It is probably borderline as to whether the red or silver is better for you as you need a minimum balance of 7.50 dirhams on the silver card in order to travel whereas with the red Nol you can load up the specific value of your trip.

      • Pier

minimum 7.5 must be on silver

also minimum fare must be on red.
and in both occasions I can refill only for 1 last fare
        that right?

        thank you!
