Fares Increase on 11 November 2014

So there has been a rise in the fare prices on Dubai transport, which includes the Metro, Tram and Buses which takes effect from 11 November 2014. There was an indication that this was likely to happen when the season ticket prices were released a few weeks ago, and daily and monthly ticket prices had increased.

Prices are still very low compared to other similar transport systems around the world. For example the similar fare of 1 zone travel on the London underground would cost around 12 dirhams as opposed to the silver nol card fare of 3 dirhams. However, this is obviously no consolation to the many lower paid workers who use the Metro in Dubai, for whom the ticket prices are a significant cost to their weekly budget.
